Bruichladdich Octomore 13.2 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whiskey. 5 year aged 2016 vintage limited release heavily peated Islay malt whiskey distilled from Concerto's Scottish grown barley. Ripe first pour Oloroso sherry casks from Fernando de Castilla, Spain. Highly aromatic, this wine opens with notes of nutty, salty smoke, milk chocolate and leather tobacco. Oloroso oak casks have shaped this whiskey's rich flavors of syrupy orange and grapefruit citrus, with hints of clove and cinnamon, walnut and praline. As it opens further, brown sugar, raisins, dried apples, melon and ripe pears emerge, intertwined beautifully with soft peaty smoke. Excellent consistency and presence on the palate. Flavors of smoky nuts and leather, warm orange jam on fresh scones. Dried apricots and a hint of peppery spice finish. Peaty smoke with fruity and nutty aromas of oloroso oak surfacing over time. The saltiness of the sea breeze creates a lively flavor combination.
