Aroma: Spiced fruit punch, with a touch of warming oak in the background. A few hints of zesty tropical fruit, too.
Palate: The Sherry cask-matured whisky really starts to take control on the palate, with milk chocolate and rain notes developing at its core. Lemon zest and shortbread.
Conclusions: A lengthy finish, boasting caramel and rye bread.
Editor Choice: This 21 year-old BenRiach has been aged successively in 4 different type of casks. It all started with 180L bourbon barrels, followed by virgin oak casks and sherry oak. Best kept for last, the single malt has been refined in cask having previously hold red wine. Full bodied, unchillfiltered and bottled at 46 % ABV this comes to complete the permanent Benriach range.
Located in the ‘Heart of Speyside’, in the North-East region of Morayshire, BenRiach displays all the traditional charm of a Speyside distillery. Built by John Duff in 1898, BenRiach draws its water from the Burnside springs located underground, deep below the distillery.
