Beerenauslese (BA) is a rich, honeyed dessert wine made from grapes that have been partially shriveled by the naturally occurring botrytis mold. Botrytis draws water out of them, leaving behind an ultra-concentrated nectar. The result is an intense, vibrant sweet wine that is gorgeous on its own, and stunning with desserts that feature fresh fruit.
BA has the same minimum must weight as Eiswein, so they have about the same sweetness.
The legal minimum for BA must weight is 110° Oechsle, but at Dr. Loosen it usually starts with a minimum of 120° Oechsle (28 Brix).
